Vicky Anglo Takes on the Fashion Industry: One Dress at a Time

The fashion industry is a fast-paced mogul where trends are constantly coming in and going out. It is a place where it can be challenging to plan for the future as an entrepreneur who is trying to grow their business. But, for Vicky Anglo, running a successful business has always been her goal, and she has been able to use her talents and passion to stitch together a highly successful business. Turning Anglo Couture from a posh boutique to a large industrial showroom shows Tampa Bay she’s here to stay. Vicky’s passion for a career in the fashion industry started when she was thirteen and went to her first bridal show. She loved how the gowns “floated on the runway” and wanted to be able to make her ideas come to life. Vicky grew up in Athens, Greece watching her father sculpt. And by watching her father create art out of the things in his workshop inspired her. She now uses Geek mythology and architecture to influence her style and names every garment and design after a Greek goddess. Vicky attended Newbury College in Boston where she got a degree in Fashion Design. Upon graduating, she opened her boutique in 2011, which focuses on making every wedding dress different. She recognizes that not everyone has the same style or body shape, therefore works to make the perfect dress that is personally crafted to suit the bride in every way. Vicky wants to make whoever wears her clothes feel confident, sexy and, powerful; therefore her style is a little more risqué. Her work has since been showcased in New York City’s Bridal Fashion Week and in boutiques all over the country. Intrapreneur Boss

In case you haven’t heard, there’s a job that allows you to create new products and services with the financial support of a company, and you don’t have to follow a corporation’s routines and protocols. It’s called being an intrapreneur, and it’s a real thing that you could do. You need to have the drive and innovative mindset of an entrepreneur and the ability to take on a few extra tasks, which can sometimes be risky. You also need to think out-of-the-box to be able to change the strategic direction of the company and help the corporation grow. If you can achieve these things, you can be equipped with the potential to gain leadership positions. For example, massive companies like Google and Microsoft are always looking to come up with new ideas to create long-term benefits for consumers and the company. The outcome of this exploration has resulted in significant technological advances in society. However, there are going to be difficulties being an intrapreneur. One of them is facing the backlash from co-workers who are not immune to change. Another is taking rejection, which is bound to happen. Going through several trials is needed in order for you to grow and get somewhere. You can never give up on projects and must always be willing to put in the extra effort. Being an intrapreneur allows you to watch a business grow from your creative ideas. If you possess the qualities of an intrapreneur, then it’s time you go out and become the driving force for a company. Your Own You

Whitney Holtzman is the CEO of her own company, Social Victories, which helps build the brand of athletes and people involved in the sports industry. Her journey to success was achieved through her self-awareness and a boss who helped pave her professional career to what it is today. Playing sports was Whitney’s outlet from school, and she always knew she wanted to have a sports-related career. Coming from a family of all lawyers, she felt like she needed to be different. She valued the importance of doing something she was passionate about and “going all in on what you care about most and sacrificing other opportunities.” Her mind was fed with important life lessons while she was an employee at VaynerMedia being mentored by the king of entrepreneurship, Gary Vaynerchuck. “Gary was the first boss I ever had who gave my skillset and interpersonal capabilities a name and value.” Whitney learned many valuable lessons from Gary. She also found like-minded people working at VaynerMedia who believed in her, which helped build the foundation of her career. Some major advice she received was to be efficient, don’t waste time, go all in on your strengths, and much more. This has guided her to run her own company and focus on what she has always been passionate about since the beginning: sports. She is building brands and relationships between companies and consumers using the latest marketing and social media tactics, and couldn’t be happier with where she is at today. Re-Building One Step at a Time

Living with a neurological injury is a challenge in itself, but that doesn’t stop Romulo “Romy” Camargo from living his life to the fullest. Stay in Step Spinal Cord Injury Recovery Center is an organization founded by husband and wife Romy and Gabriela Camargo that begun in June of 2015. This recovery center provides critical physical therapy services to victims of neurological injuries. Despite its importance, unfortunately healthcare providers do not provide these recovery centers. But the hardworking couple made it their goal to make this happen for the Tampa Bay area. In 2008, Romy was injured in combat during his service in the Afghanistan tour, which caused him to be paralyzed from the neck down. Romy’s life changed completely, but the couple faced the long-term challenge to recover together. From this tragic experience, they felt the need to advocate for those who suffer from neurological injuries like Romy. Stay in Step is a unique program that Romy and Gabriela built together from the ground up. The process was difficult due to the descending rates of Medicare and Medicaid, but the organization was still able to receive investments from healthcare. Stay in Step has the patience for those in recovery, unlike other healthcare providers. Each client is treated with the utmost respect and is never forgotten or left behind during their recovery. They can get as far as they possibly can in the process. Unfortunately, other healthcare providers do not have the same service. Because the couple has been living the same reality as their clients, they fully understand the challenges their clients face every day.
